DEMEC Announces City of Dover Membership
DEMEC now serves and represents all community-owned electric utilities in Delaware.
Smyrna, DE – The Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation (DEMEC), a not-for-profit joint action agency, is happy to announce the recent addition of the City of Dover, DE as an associate member. With the inclusion of Dover, DEMEC will represent all nine (9) community-owned electric utilities in the state of Delaware. This partnership brings access to valued-added services and programs at economies of scale pricing to the City of Dover.
“We are excited to have DEMEC as an extension of our staff and to increase opportunities for the City of Dover. We are especially excited about DEMEC’s Joint Lineworker Training Yard and the educational program they offer our apprentice and journeyman lineworkers,” said David Hugg, City Manager, City of Dover.
As an associate member, the City of Dover benefits from joint advocacy efforts, shared resources, robust training, networking opportunities, and increased assistance through mutual aid during severe weather emergencies.

The City of Dover Electric Department is responsible for the reliability of the local electric system as well as the engineering, construction and maintenance of its electric infrastructure. The Electric Team maintains a system that covers 75 square miles and serves approximately 25,000 customers.
