Warren F. Beasley Power Plant

DEMEC commissioned the Warren F. Beasley Power Plant in 2002, a state-of-the-art natural gas generation plant in Smyrna, DE. In 2012, DEMEC commissioned unit 2 for the plant, bringing its total capacity to nearly 100 megawatts (MW). The plant is jointly owned by seven of the DEMEC members. Investing over $58 million, DEMEC has added reliability to Delaware and the region, strengthened the state’s restoration capabilities, and provided energy supply to offset costs on consumer peak energy days. As a peaking plant, the Beasley Power Plant is able to provide quick support to the regional grid when additional energy supply is needed due to high demand.
