DEMEC’s 2024 Annual Dinner
DEMEC celebrated 45 years of “Lighting the Way” with our members, colleagues, & industry partners at our 2024 Annual Dinner. Highlights of this year’s dinner event included an energy industry panel discussion & member awards ceremony.
Representatives from the American Public Power Association (APPA), American Municipal Power (AMP), ACES Power, and the Sierra Club of Delaware joined DEMEC President and CEO, Kimberly Schlichting, for a discussion on the future energy transition, reliability, and policymaking.
DEMEC also took this opportunity to recognize members who received national accolades, including APPA’s Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) designation, the Safety Award of Excellence, and Excellence in Reliability certificate. The towns of Middletown and Smyrna were also recognized for their support and service to the Light Up Navajo mutual aid project. DEMEC’s member crew worked as one of 48 utility teams from 16 states that electrified 170 homes in the Navajo Nation for the first time!
This educational networking event serves as an opportunity for members and industry professionals to connect and engage on topics that electric utilities are facing across the country. Local, State, and Federal elected officials and staff joined utility personnel to celebrate recent accomplishments and continue discussions that will pave the path forward for the future of energy in Delaware. DEMEC is proud to serve our nine member communities throughout Delaware and looks forward to “lighting the way” for another 45 years and more!
