City of Milford Awards Green Energy Grant to Grow USA, LLC
The City of Milford provided Grow USA, LLC a $30,000 grant for installing a solar photovoltaic renewable energy system in Milford, Delaware. This grant was available through Milford’s Green Energy Program, which is administered by the Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation (“DEMEC”), to support community and individual customer energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
The Grow USA project was installed on the company’s First State Manufacturing office building. The installation consisted of 658 photovoltaic panels totaling 151.34 kilowatts of solar capacity which is anticipated to produce approximately 168,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually. The emissions savings of this system is equivalent to the amount of carbon stored annually in the United States by 95 acres forest.
