Voluntary Green Energy Purchase Program
The purpose of the Voluntary Green Energy Purchase Program is to allow municipal electric customers the opportunity to purchase blocks of green energy at competitive market rates. The blocks are generated from non-carbon based, qualifying renewable energy sources. By subscribing to this program, customers will be helping to improve the environment by reducing pollution and consumption of non-renewable resources.
Participating utilites allow their customers the option to voluntarily purchase blocks of green energy. Blocks of 100kwh are offered for one year terms and will be renewable yearly at the then current market rate. The amount of green energy blocks may be awarded on a first-come first-serve basis. If subscriptions exceed available green energy, customers will be placed on a waiting list for the following year.
